[Saba Sports News] The first Indian Veteran Premier League (IVPL) is set to kick off on February 23, with legendary cricketers taking the field at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun. The final is planned for March 3. Chris Gayle, the record-breaking West Indies batsman, will play a significant role as he leads the Telangana Tigers. Dehradun audiences will witness the top scorer in T20 cricket. Gayle expressed his enthusiasm, attributing his motivation to self-belief and fan support.
Gayle emphasized, “The Universe Boss is back for the inaugural IVPL, ready to excite fans alongside big names. Get ready because old is gold,” as reported by Hindustan Times. Alongside him in the Telangana Tigers will be former teammates Ricardo Powell and notable Indian players Sudeep Tyagi and Manpreet Gony.
Organized by the Board for Veteran Cricket in India (BVCI) and managed by 100 Sports, the tournament will feature cricket legends like Virender Sehwag, Suresh Raina, and others. Praveen Tyagi, BVCI’s Acting President, aims to establish the IVPL as a premier league following the IPL, boasting world-class cricketers.
Teams such as VVIP Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan Legends, and others will compete, each featuring four to five iconic players globally.
