[Saba Sports News] The Indian camp is plagued with a set of injuries with the selectors and the team management awaiting the fitness reports of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja before announcing the squad for the remaining three Tests against England.
Mohammad Shami too is likely to miss the whole series due to ankle issues, while Virat Kohli’s availability is still in doubt.
Adding to the woes, Shreyas Iyer has also reportedly fallen in line, complaining of stiffness in his back and pain in his groin.
As reported by The Indian Express, Iyer is again experiencing issues with regards to his fitness and could be sent to the NCA for further evaluation.
He is likely to miss the remainder of the England Test series and could come back in IPL 2024.
Notably, Iyer’s career has often been trouble by injuries. He got ruled out midway through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 due to a back injury. He returned to the Indian team after an almost six-month layoff in the Asia Cup 2023.
The upcoming Test match between India and England will commence on February 15 in Rajkot.
