[Saba Sports News] Former NBA player Drew Gordon passed away in a car accident in Portland, as confirmed by his agent, Calvin Andrews, to Marc J. Spears of ESPN. Drew, the brother of Denver Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon, was 33 years old and had played professional basketball in the NBA and Europe. His former club, KK Partizan Belgrade, also expressed their condolences on social media.
Drew Gordon played college basketball at UCLA for his first two years before transferring to New Mexico for his junior and senior years. After going undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, he signed with Partizan Belgrade in Serbia, where he averaged 9.1 points and 7.5 rebounds in one season.
He then moved to Italy’s LBA, playing for Dinamo Sassari and averaging 13.5 points and 7.5 rebounds over four games. The following season, he briefly played for Turkish team Bandirma Banvit before returning to Dinamo.
Gordon later had a chance in the NBA with the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2014-15 season, but was waived before the season began. He played for the 76ers’ G League team, Delaware 87ers, and was re-signed by the 76ers, playing nine games and averaging 1.9 points and 2.0 steals per game.
