[Saba Sports] Steve Nash’s appearance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday showcased the sports gods’ sense of humor.
The retired Basketball Hall of Famer sat courtside at American Airlines Center, cheering on the Dallas Mavericks alongside former teammate Dirk Nowitzki. The duo, both former Mavs All-Stars, were shown on the ABC broadcast in the fourth quarter. However, social media buzzed with jokes about Nash rooting for Dallas guard Kyrie Irving, given their rocky history.
Nash, who coached the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-22, often clashed with Irving. Reports suggested Irving disrespected Nash during their time together and even ignored him towards the end. After Nash’s firing in late 2022, Irving was traded to the Mavs in February 2023. The two crossed paths again on Wednesday night in Dallas, likely without any pleasantries exchanged.
