[Saba Sports News] Magic Johnson isn’t too happy about the Boston Celtics winning the NBA championship.
The Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 on Monday at TD Garden, securing their 18th NBA championship and breaking their tie with the Lakers for the most in NBA history.
“I hate that the Celtics officially have more championships than us now,” Johnson wrote on X.
Johnson, a key figure in the Lakers-Celtics rivalry of the 1980s, praised Celtics GM Brad Stevens for making significant moves, such as acquiring Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, that improved Boston’s title chances. The Celtics finished the regular season 64-18 and continued their dominance in the postseason, going 80-21 overall for a .792 winning percentage.
