[Saba Sports News] England captain Ben Stokes lamented a technology error as he believes Zak Crawley’s lbw decision was not right in the second innings of the Hyderabad Test against India.
Crawley, who was carrying England’s hopes of pulling off a record run-chase in the history of Test cricket in India, was adjudged LBW on a review taken by Rohit Sharma.
The England opener was decided by left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav and got hit on the pads. The on-field umpire like most of the fans and commentators felt that the impact was missing the line of the leg-stump.
However, as India opted for a review, the ball-tracking showed otherwise, flashing three reds and ending Crawley’s 73-run stay at the crease.
Review…..successful! ✅☝️

As soon as Crawley got out, England crumbled, losing wickets in clusters and allowing India to level the series with a 106-run win.
When asked about Crawley’s dismissal, Stokes shared his opinion, stating that he thinks that the technology got it wrong on this occasion. However, he took nothing away from India, asserting that England did not lose only because of this.
“My personal opinion is that the technology has gone wrong on this occasion. That’s where I stand on it,” Stokes said as quoted.
“Technology in the game is obviously there and everyone has an understanding of the reasons it can never be 100 per cent. That’s why we have the ‘umpire’s call’, that’s why it’s in place,” he added.
“So when it’s not 100 per cent, I don’t think it’s unfair for someone to say ‘I think the technology has got it wrong:. I will say that, but in a game full of ifs, buts and maybes I am not going to say that’s the reason why we haven’t got the result we wanted.
“You can’t really do much with things that have been and gone. You can’t really overturn a decision that has been made.”
The two teams will now meet in Rajkot for the third Test match, starting on February 15.
