(sabasports report) Spain take on Georgia in Cologne for the quarterfinals of Euro 2024. Spain’s centre-back Robin Le Normand scored an own goal in the 18th minute to give Georgia a 1-0 lead. Rodri drew level with a volley in the 38th minute, leaving the teams 1-1 at halftime. Spain rallied 2-1 in the second half when Lamine Yamal set up Fabian Ruiz’s goal. Goals from Nico Williams and Dani Olmo eventually made it 4-1 for Spain. Spain won to advance to the quarterfinals against hosts Germany.

Spain finished first in their group and Georgia, playing in their European Cup debut, advanced to the knockout stage as one of the three best of their four groups. Compared with the large rotation in the previous round of group stage, Spain basically sent out the whole team for the game, with Rodrigo in midfield, Alvaro Morata leading the attack, and the youngsters Yamal and Nico Williams separated on the wings.
