[Saba Sports News] The Phoenix Suns have added another piece to their roster.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Tuesday that the Suns plan to sign veteran guard Monte Morris in free agency. While contract details were not disclosed, it is likely a veteran’s minimum deal.
Morris, 29, is an underrated true point guard. He played alongside Phoenix star Bradley Beal on the Washington Wizards during the 2022-23 season, averaging 10.3 points and 5.3 assists per game. Morris has also been part of multiple deep playoff runs, including reaching the Western Conference Finals with the Denver Nuggets in 2020 and again with the Minnesota Timberwolves this past season.
With the Suns losing some backcourt firepower this summer, Morris should fit in nicely. He boasts a career three-point shooting rate of 39.1%, can handle primary ball-handling duties as a 6th man or situational starter, and defends well on the ball. His skill set will be a valuable asset for Phoenix’s new head coach, Mike Budenholzer.
