[Saba Sports News] Multiple media reports recently suggested that Marseille is close to signing Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood. Marseille Mayor Benoit Payan strongly condemned this and stated that he would ask the Marseille president to abandon the transfer. Payan said, “Greenwood’s behavior is indescribable and unacceptable. He assaulted his wife… I was deeply shocked by the images I saw. Engaging in such violence against women is simply unworthy of him, and I don’t believe there is a place for him in this team.” Payan also emphasized that the city of Marseille and the Marseille Club should never endorse such values. Finally, Payan stated that he would request the Marseille club president not to sign Greenwood, as he does not want the club to be associated with a man who assaulted his wife. This is unacceptable.
