[Saba Sports News] In March of this year, Markus Duesmann, former chairman of the board of directors at Audi, stated that the introduction of new power unit competition rules in 2026 presented an excellent opportunity for Audi to enter Formula 1. Since then, Audi has been actively recruiting personnel in preparation for its venture into the world of Formula 1. Yesterday, Audi signed its first official partner for the F1 project: BP. The British energy giant will produce sustainable fuel for the Audi F1 team by 2026, and its sub-brand Castrol will provide a range of lubricants and greases to the team. BP’s partnership ensures marketing opportunities through its Castrol and Aral brands. BP is currently supplying fuel for Audi’s new V6 turbo hybrid system during its development and will also produce e-liquids for the car’s hybrid components, including oils and fluids for thermal management purposes. It is reported that the cooperation between Audi and BP started nearly two years ago with the research and development of V6 power units. BP has a strong commitment to both top-level football and automotive events. Castrol has previously sponsored the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, as well as the 2008 and 2012 European Championships. In the racing field, Castrol is the designated oil provider for teams such as Audi, Ford, Honda, and Volkswagen, supporting their participation in various international racing events such as the World Rally Championship and the Dakar Rally.
