[Saba Sports News] India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is no mood to stop any sooner. After smashing a century in the second Test of the ongoing series against England on the first day of the match itself, Jaiswal wants to convert it into a double-hundred.
Jaiswal ended the day at 179 not-out, his best individual score in international cricket. This is his second Test century, first in India. He had scored a hundred on his Test debut versus the West Indies.
Talking about his plan, the youngster shared that he was playing the waiting game initially as the England bowlers bowled well.
He further shared insights into the pitch conditions while also acknowledging the confidence given to him by captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid.
“I wanted to play it session by session. When they were bowling well, I just wanted to get through that spell. Initially, the wicket was damp and there was spin and bounce, with a bit of seam. However, I wanted to convert the loose balls, and play till the end. I would love to double this up, and play till the end for the team. I want to recover well for tomorrow now,” Jaiswal said as quoted in the presser.
“The pitch played a bit differently, in the morning, it was a bit damp and then it settled. With the older ball, there was some bounce. Rahul sir and Rohit bhai kept giving me the confidence and told me to convert this into a big innings, and stay till the end, he added.
India scored 336 runs at the fall of six wickets on the opening day of the Test. Barring Jaiswal, no other Indian batter could even score a half-century.
