(sabasports report)The Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz have agreed to a sign-and-trade deal involving Russell Westbrook, according to a report from the Journal Woj. The Clippers acquired point guard Kris Dunn from the Jazz for Westbrook, a second-round pick swap and cash. According to Haynes, Dunn and the Clippers agreed to a three-year contract worth $17 million.

Williams is coming off a buyout agreement with the Jazz and plans to join the Denver Nuggets with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, with the goal of a championship run. The Nuggets have been interested in Westbrook for a long time, especially after losing Pope and Reggie Jackson, and coach Michael Malone made it clear that Murray needed an experienced backup point guard who could provide energy and defense.
“I think we need some help in the backcourt,” Denver general Manager John Booth said earlier. We have one spot left and if we can add a high quality defender we will be happy with that.”
The deal not only strengthens the Clippers’ point guard position, but also gives the Nuggets a seasoned backup point guard and depth in their backcourt, and with Westbrook, the Nuggets are expected to make a run at the championship next season.
