[Saba Sports News] On Friday, Windows users worldwide experienced a blue screen failure, seemingly caused by an update to CrowdStrike. It is worth noting that CrowdStrike has been providing services to the Mercedes F1 team since 2019, and their brand logo is currently featured on the team’s cars. Mercedes team engineering director Andrew Shovlin confirmed that they are manually resolving the issue on each of the team’s computers, ensuring that all faults are rectified before the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix qualifying session. This problem is of significant importance to them, but it has had almost no impact on track operations. Reports suggest that this CrowdStrike failure may stem from a vulnerability in its EDR agent, which unfortunately was not thoroughly tested before the release of a market update. The solution to this problem involves rolling back each Windows machine to an older version of the software, which is relatively straightforward but time-consuming. Mercedes’ engine customers, including the McLaren F1 Team, Aston Martin F1 Team, and Williams F1 Team, were also affected by the blue screen failure.
