[Saba Sports News] Prior to the start of the Paris Olympics, the Chinese Taipei delegation announced their reward plan for winning Olympic medals, which has drawn significant attention from fans. According to reports, the Chinese Taipei delegation provides two methods for awarding athletes who have won medals in the Olympics. The first method is a one-time payment, with gold medalists receiving NT20 million, silver medalists receiving NT7 million, and bronze medalists receiving NT5 million. Additionally, for core sports such as swimming, track and field, gymnastics, and badminton, each association also provides 50% more. The other payment method offered by the Chinese Taipei delegation is called “monthly salary refund.” Gold medalists can receive a monthly payment of NT125,000 for life, silver medalists can receive NT38,000 per month, and bronze medalists can receive NT24,000 per month. Some badminton fans have calculated that based on the “monthly salary refund” system, if the 30−year−old Tai Tzu−Ying wins an Olympic gold medal, and assuming the average life expectancy of Taiwanese women is 84 years old, she can receive a total bonus of up to NT 81 million over the course of 54 years. Some fans have ridiculed that the courtesy shown by Chinese Taipei to Olympic champions can be considered the best in the world.
