[Saba Sports News] The Cleveland Cavaliers might have been impressed by what they saw at the Paris Games.
Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com mentioned on the “Wine and Gold Talk Podcast” that the Cavs are “taking a look” at Brazil’s breakout star Bruno Caboclo from the Olympics. Caboclo, 28, currently plays for Partizan in Serbia.
Standing at 6-foot-9, Caboclo was the 20th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. He was famously dubbed “two years away from being two years away” by ESPN’s Fran Fraschilla. Over seven NBA seasons with four different teams, Caboclo averaged 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. His last NBA appearance was with the Houston Rockets during the 2020-21 season, after which he moved to play overseas.
Caboclo made a strong comeback at the Olympics, averaging 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game for Brazil, including a standout 30-point performance against Team USA in the quarterfinals and a 33-point game against Japan in the group stage.
As of August 8, the Cavs had six open roster spots (three standard and three two-way contracts) and have not made any new signings since. With Cleveland aiming to contend after winning 48 games last season and retaining their core players, Caboclo might now be ready for another shot in the NBA.
