[Saba Sports News] Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has always been open about his admiration for Kevin Durant, even calling him his all-time favorite player. However, after knocking Durant and the Phoenix Suns out of the playoffs this year, Edwards admitted to having mixed feelings.
During a panel at Fanatics Fest, moderated by Jalen Rose, Edwards laughed when asked about the experience of defeating Durant’s Suns, while Durant looked on with frustration.
“I’m not going to lie. I felt a little bad, only because he’s my favorite player of all-time,” Edwards confessed. “I didn’t want to send him home like that. It happened, man. I felt bad.”
Edwards’ choice of words is amusing, especially considering the Timberwolves swept the Suns in the playoffs. Both he and Durant likely expected a tougher series. Edwards averaged 31 points per game in the four-game sweep, dominating as the Timberwolves shut down most of the Suns’ offense, aside from Durant and Devin Booker.
At least Durant can find some comfort in knowing that one of his teammates had an even rougher time than he did.
