[Saba Sports News] According to English media reports, newly promoted Premier League team Leicester City may face a difficult start to the season as they have been found to have violated financial regulations during the Championship season. As a result, they may receive a 2-point deduction in the Premier League. The charges against Leicester City in the Premier League involve the period from 2020 to 2023, during which they incurred losses of £215.3 million, exceeding the limit of £110 million. Additionally, the English Football League (EFL) expects another significant overspending during the previous season. Due to concerns that they will again exceed the limits, the EFL has been investigating Leicester City’s finances for the 2023-24 season in real-time. In my opinion, Leicester City may face a fate similar to Everton, who received a 10-point deduction in their first violation, which was later reduced to 6 points after appeal. However, they were then deducted 2 points again in the next cycle, which may also damage the club’s image and reputation.
