[Saba Sports News] San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama continued to amaze with his seemingly physics-defying plays. In their Saturday game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wembanyama executed a stunning Shammgod dribble move against Rudy Gobert, leaving the crowd at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas, in awe. His maneuver to score over the former Defensive Player of the Year was effortless.
Wembanyama, standing at 7’4″, showcased a dribbling prowess comparable to players much smaller than him. His unique combination of guard-like skills and an 8-foot wingspan allowed him to evade Gobert, one of the NBA’s premier shot-blockers.
Interestingly, Wembanyama’s use of the Shammgod crossover, popularized by former NBA player and current Dallas Mavericks assistant God Shammgod, comes after Shammgod himself went viral in October for attempting to replicate Wembanyama’s wingspan using oar-like extensions in a Mavericks practice.
This highlight was just a part of Wembanyama’s outstanding overall performance against the Timberwolves. The 20-year-old spearheaded a major comeback, leading the Spurs to a narrow 113-112 victory. Wembanyama ended the game with a remarkable stat line of 23 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocks, also hitting three three-pointers. This achievement marked him as the first rookie to record such stats, underscoring his status as one of the NBA’s most promising talents.
