[Saba Sports News] DeMar DeRozan joined the Sacramento Kings late in the 2024 NBA offseason, adding another strong scorer to one of the league’s top offenses.
After his contract with the Chicago Bulls expired, it became clear that his time in Chicago was over, as the team shifted focus toward younger players in a semi-rebuild. DeRozan, still a skilled lead scorer and ball-handler, sought a winning situation but wasn’t immediately sure where he would land.
On an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, DeRozan revealed that he seriously considered joining the Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Miami Heat before choosing the Kings. “Those teams were real, legitimate options I was considering,” DeRozan said.
The 76ers made headlines by acquiring George, a better fit alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The Lakers, who made minimal roster changes aside from adding rookies Dalton Knecht and Bronny James, were also in the mix but ultimately saw DeRozan sign with one of their rivals
