[Saba Sports News] The NBA recently unveiled the 2024 All-Star rosters, followed by the release of the final voting results from fans, players, and coaches. In this voting system, fans contribute 50% of the total votes, while players and coaches equally share the remaining 50%.
Despite the significant influence of fan voting, players and coaches also play a crucial role in determining the outcome. However, some of their voting choices have raised eyebrows for being seemingly illogical. Remarkably, five players who haven’t played this season received votes from their fellow players. Among them is Memphis Grizzlies center Steven Adams, who, despite undergoing PCL surgery in October, received seven votes to start in the All-Star Game.
The reason behind Adams receiving these votes is unclear. It could be a genuine endorsement from his peers or a strategic move to prevent other players from securing a spot. This situation highlights a potential flaw in the current voting system.
Other players who haven’t appeared on the court this season but still received player votes include Lonzo Ball, Vlatko Cancar, Brandon Clarke, and Jaylen Clark.
