[Saba Sports News] Viewers of Sky Sports noticed a significant omission in the broadcast lineup for the Azerbaijan F1 Grand Prix: David Croft will not be present, meaning F1 expert Harry Benjamin will serve as the main commentator in Baku. As early as February this year, Croft confirmed he would be getting married within the year and hoped to reduce his busy workload. Therefore, he will take several weekends off during this season’s F1 broadcasts. Previously, Croft had already missed the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in May and the Austrian Grand Prix in June. It is reported that the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be Croft’s last absence in the 2024 schedule. Croft previously worked for BBC Radio 5 Live, providing live commentary for all F1 races from 2006 to 2011. During that time, he only missed one race: the 2007 European Grand Prix. Since Sky Sports acquired F1 broadcasting rights in 2012, this F1 icon has joined Sky Sports and has been responsible for live race coverage. Before this season, he had never missed a race, meaning this veteran broadcaster has not missed an F1 live broadcast for 16 consecutive years.
