[Saba Sports News] Mid-week, Malaysian badminton mixed doubles star Toh Ee Wei sustained injuries to her left hand and back after an accidental fall while training at the BAM sports complex. Her left hand required stitches, preventing her from participating in upcoming international tournaments, including the Arctic Badminton Open and the Denmark Badminton Open. BAM’s coaching director Rexy Mainaky stated that the medical team is closely monitoring Toh’s condition and will provide updates to the media when appropriate. Everyone at the association wishes her a swift recovery and looks forward to her return to the court. It is noted that Toh previously withdrew from the Malaysian national team due to chronic sinusitis. After undergoing minor surgery, she returned to competition in good health. Since 2023, Toh has been partnering with CHEN Tang Jie in mixed doubles events. Their performance has steadily improved, earning them a nomination for BWF’s Most Improved Player of 2023. In September’s Korea Open Badminton Championships, Toh and Chen defeated China’s Guo Xin Wa and LI Qian to win the mixed doubles title.
