[Saba Sports News] The New Orleans Pelicans are gearing up for preseason, but rookie Yves Missi has already made a big impression at training camp, even breaking a rim after a powerful dunk.
The 20-year-old Cameroonian has been turning heads at Belmont University, taking every opportunity to learn from veteran teammates.
Reflecting on camp, Missi said, “I’m the new guy, so I just need to learn from everyone and understand the NBA game.” Known for his Big 12 All-Defense skills, Missi’s focus this season is on finishing strong at the rim. “I missed a couple of layups, so now I’m trying to dunk it every time,” he shared.
Missi has also been seeking advice on screens from Daniel Theis, preparing to work with All-Star Zion Williamson. Head coach Willie Green summed it up: “For Yves, it’s about competing—block shots, rebound, screen, and finish. So far, he’s impressive.”
