Andy Cole pointed out that while United’s recent poor run of results was not entirely down to Tenhaag, he explained: “Whatever decision the management makes will be based on the best interests of the club. But whichever way you look at it, it is not just the result of luck that a manager can win two cups in his first two seasons at United. You can’t be that lucky two seasons in a row.”
“Clubs may make decisions they think are right, but in the big picture you can’t just blame the manager. Although the coach is responsible for selecting the players, it is the players who ultimately fight and win the game. That’s the reality.”
