On Monday local time, Manchester United dismissed head coach Erik ten Hag. On Tuesday, the parent company of Sporting CP disclosed transaction information as required, confirming Manchester United’s interest in head coach Ruben Amorim and their willingness to pay a €10 million (approximately £8.3 million) buyout fee. Reports indicate that in Amorim’s contract, another Portuguese club has a buyout fee of €30 million, foreign clubs have a buyout fee of €20 million, while a few elite teams, including Manchester United, have a buyout fee of €10 million. It is reported that Ten Hag will receive approximately £13 million in compensation, while Amorim’s buyout fee is £8.3 million, making the total cost of Manchester United’s managerial change slightly over £20 million. Since James Ratcliffe took over the club’s football operations, Manchester United has been cutting costs, laying off about 250 employees. Recently, terminating the contract with Sir Alex Ferguson as the club’s ambassador could save £2 million annually, along with other measures, these cost-cutting actions are believed to have saved the club £30 million.
