[Saba Sports News] Before the New York Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to Marc Stein, a well-known sports reporter, New York has been seen as a potential trade home for Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo. However, since the completion of the Towns trade, “more than one rival team” has begun to suspect that the Knicks acquired Towns with the intention of using him in a future Giannis deal.

Last week, CBS Sports’ Bill Reiter reported that an anonymous executive with a Western Conference team said “multiple teams are watching and holding out hope” that Antetokouno could be traded sometime during the 2024-25 season. Reiter also mentioned that another executive said he “wouldn’t be surprised” if a trade happened before the deadline, while a third mentioned the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets as possible Giannis’ preferred destinations.
Ever since the Bucks won the title in 2021, rumors of a trade for Antetokouno had seemed absurd. Now it may be the best option for both sides. The Bucks haven’t advanced beyond the playoffs since winning the title in 2021 and have exited in the first round two years in a row, even last year when the team brought in veteran star Damian Lillard.
