Thai women’s badminton player Sapsiree Taerattanachai won the Socio-Economic Award for the 2024 Thailand Headlines Annual Person of the Year. Some media outlets believe that Sapsiree is a model for promoting social progress, playing a unique role in the field of sports culture, representing Thailand’s soft power. Her achievements and influence have earned Thailand international recognition. As the 2024 season begins, Sapsiree has won the mixed doubles championship at the Thailand Badminton Masters and the mixed doubles championship at the India Badminton Open, and she represented the Thai national badminton team at the 2024 Paris Olympics, achieving a top eight finish. Currently, the mixed doubles pair of Sapsiree and Dechapol Puavaranukroh ranks eighth in the world and is a strong contender for the Badminton World Federation Tour Finals championship.
