[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, Paris Saint-Germain has decided to prohibit fans from displaying any banners or conducting pre-match protests at Parc des Princes for the remainder of this year. This decision was made following an incident before PSG’s Champions League match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday when fans displayed a banner reading “Free Palestine.” After meetings with the French Football Federation and the French government, the Ligue 1 champions committed to checking for political statements in banners before matches. In addition to banning fans from conducting pre-match banner protests for the rest of 2024, PSG is also expected to prevent the Paris ultra group Collectif Ultras Paris (CUP) from entering Parc des Princes on match days. The duration of this ban is currently unclear. There are reports that PSG and CUP may also face UEFA sanctions due to the banner protests. Notably, after four Champions League matches this season, PSG has only won their first match against Girona; they subsequently drew with PSV Eindhoven and lost to Arsenal and Atlético Madrid. Currently, PSG ranks 25th in the Champions League.
