[Saba Sports News] The Brazilian Grand Prix weekend saw multiple accidents, resulting in a staggering €5 million in car damage, making it the highest single-race damage of the season. Due to continuous rain, five drivers encountered crashes during qualifying, including two Williams cars. According to F1 Maximal, the two qualifying crashes directly led to losses exceeding €800,000 for the Williams team. In the race, despite the team’s efforts to repair Franco Colapinto’s car, he lost control and crashed into the barriers under safety car conditions on lap 32. The severity of this accident exceeded that of the two qualifying crashes, damaging components including the front wing, nose cone, front and rear suspension, and rear wing, as well as side pods and gearbox, totaling approximately €1.49 million in damages. Over the entire weekend, Williams’ repair costs reached €2.29 million. However, to ensure sufficient parts supply for the remaining three races, the factory had to allocate additional resources for production and repairs. Additionally, Alpine’s second and third-place finishes at the Brazilian Grand Prix allowed them to leap from 9th to 6th in the constructors’ standings. Meanwhile, Williams dropped one position to 9th place. According to data from last year’s Free Media, each position difference in constructors’ points results in a reduction of about $10 million in prize money. Considering this situation along with the previously mentioned direct losses, Williams may face economic losses of up to €13 million from the Brazilian Grand Prix.
