The veteran guard shone in TNT’s Governors Cup final against Barangay Ginebra and was finally named PBA Finals MVP, helping TNT win the title on Friday night.
Castro became the unanimous winner of the award presented by the PBA press Corps with Honda, beating out teammates Calvin Oftana and Roger Pogoy.
Castro, 38, became the oldest Finals MVP in history, breaking the record set by Kings of Balanga guard and friend LA Tenorio. Tenorio previously won the honor at the age of 36 during the Philippine Cup bubble in 2020.
Castro averaged 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists in six games while bringing experience and leadership to TNT, which won its 10th PBA championship.
