[Saba Sports News] Reports suggest that Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas will return to the Mercedes F1 team next year, but he will not be a driver; instead, he will serve as an “advisor” to CEO Toto Wolff. Even before Sauber announced its signing of Gabriel Bortoleto, there were rumors about Bottas returning to his former team, Mercedes. In an interview, Bottas admitted that he is considering rejoining the Mercedes family. Shortly after Sauber announced the signing of Bortoleto, the official Mercedes account posted a photo of Bottas with the caption “I miss him; he’s just an athlete,” fueling the rumors further. While many believe Bottas may serve as a reserve driver at Mercedes, former F1 driver Emerson Fittipaldi stated on the Pelas Pistas podcast that Bottas would enter the team management, replacing Jerome D’Ambrosio as Wolff’s professional advisor, as Wolff has great confidence in Bottas’s racing experience.
