[Saba Sports News] The feud between Jaylen Brown and Nike has taken another heated turn.
On Wednesday night, Nike stirred the pot with a viral post celebrating Giannis Antetokounmpo’s 59-point performance. The post read, “Nothing childish about ’em. 59 for the Greek Freak,” a clear jab at Brown, who had previously referred to Antetokounmpo as “a child” after a heated game between the Celtics and Bucks earlier this month.
Brown wasted no time responding, quote-posting Nike’s message with the comment, “Y’all got weird energy.”
This is far from the first time the reigning Finals MVP has clashed with the retail giant. In 2022, Brown publicly criticized Nike for alleged ethical issues, and more recently, he suggested Nike may have influenced his exclusion from the USA Basketball team for the Paris Olympics, given their long-standing partnership with the event.
While Nike’s post may have been intended as lighthearted, many saw it as unnecessarily petty, especially coming from a corporate account with millions of followers. With the NBA season now in full swing, the tension between Brown and Nike shows no signs of cooling down.
