[Saba Sports News] Recently, Bayern Munich officially announced that women’s goalkeeper Mara Gross has been diagnosed with a malignant tumor and will undergo treatment, resulting in an indefinite absence. Additionally, Bayern Munich has reached an agreement with the goalkeeper to extend her contract until 2026. In response, Gross stated, “This illness is something I never anticipated, but I believe that with everyone’s help, I can recover and return to full health. The doctors in Munich will provide me with the best treatment, and I can absolutely trust my team and the club’s support.” Meanwhile, Bayern Munich officially requested that inquiries regarding Gross be refrained from for the next few months, asking for respect for the player’s privacy. Gross joined Munich in 2019 after graduating high school and became the starting goalkeeper for the second team, making her first appearance for the women’s first team on January 30, 2021. To date, Gross has represented the team 81 times and has won three Bundesliga titles, along with the DFL Super Cup at the beginning of this season.
