[Saba Sports News] Kiyan Anthony is officially following in his father Carmelo Anthony’s footsteps at Syracuse, and Melo couldn’t be prouder.
On Friday, Kiyan announced his commitment to play college basketball at Syracuse, a school where the Anthony name holds legendary status. Shortly after the news broke, Carmelo shared a heartfelt video on social media with the caption, “It’s your time now.”
Carmelo famously led Syracuse to a national championship in 2003 during his freshman season, averaging an impressive 22.2 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.
While Kiyan may not replicate Melo’s immediate dominance, the 17-year-old is carving out his own path as a top-tier recruit.
Standing 6’5″, Kiyan is rated as the No. 1 recruit in New York and ranks 32nd nationally in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports. This past spring, he averaged 19.6 points per game on the Nike EYBL circuit.
Back in July, Kiyan revealed Syracuse as one of six schools on his shortlist. He later narrowed it down to two before choosing his father’s alma mater, where he’ll look to add another chapter to the Anthony legacy.
