[Saba Sports News] Draymond Green managed to pick up a flagrant foul—without even stepping on the court.
The Golden State Warriors veteran faced scrutiny for his actions during Friday’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. In the third quarter, Green lost the ball on a drive, which was scooped up by Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey. As Edey pushed the ball ahead for a fast break, Green attempted to stop the play by hooking Edey’s leg, sending the seven-footer crashing to the floor.
Initially, Green was called for a transition take foul, awarding Memphis one free throw and possession. However, on Saturday, the league reviewed the incident and upgraded Green’s foul to a Flagrant 1, per an official NBA announcement.
Green, a former Defensive Player of the Year, finished the NBA Cup game with 13 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists as the Warriors edged out the Grizzlies 123-118.
The 34-year-old had previously vowed to improve his on-court behavior this season, particularly by reducing technical fouls. Yet, incidents like this suggest that old habits die hard for the outspoken star.
