[Saba Sports News] A former Philadelphia 76ers player has stirred up some chatter with a lighthearted jab at Joel Embiid.
Los Angeles Clippers center Mo Bamba, who spent part of last season with the Sixers, made his Clippers debut on Sunday against the Utah Jazz. Dealing with a lingering knee issue, Bamba was asked on Monday morning by ClutchPoints reporter Tomer Azarly about his availability for the second game of a back-to-back against the Golden State Warriors.
“I am not [Joel Embiid],” Bamba quipped with a laugh. He clarified that while he is on a minutes restriction, he didn’t hit that limit during the Clippers’ win over the Jazz.
Though likely a playful comment, Bamba’s remark highlighted Embiid’s reputation for injury management. Coincidentally, Embiid was listed as doubtful for the 76ers’ game against the Miami Heat on Monday due to an illness but ended up starting.
Whether Bamba’s joke had any influence is unclear, but Embiid’s attention to online chatter has been evident, especially after his recent spat with a 76ers reporter.
