Returning to the T20I team for the first time since the 2022 ICC World Cup, Kohli had shown flashes of brilliance in Indore, scoring a brisk 29 off 16 balls with a strike rate over 181 against an Afghanistan team missing Rashid Khan.
In Bengaluru, expectations were high for Kohli to perform at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, he was dismissed on the first ball by Fareed Ahmad, inadvertently setting a new record for ducks, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar. Despite his batting struggles, Kohli remained a highlight for his extraordinary fielding, including a spectacular dive to save a six.
