According to German media, the DFB’s management committee is reviewing the incident involving Sane elbowing Gros. This is an initial step before a formal investigation begins; if confirmed, Sane could face additional punishment. However, the DFB’s management committee decided not to take action against Sane, meaning the Bayern Munich player will not be penalized for the elbowing incident. In response, DFB management committee chairman Anton Nachreiner stated: “After evaluating the television footage and considering Gros’ statement, the conditions for a conviction for attacking an opponent in a non-sporting manner have not been met.” This season, Sane has played 14 times for Bayern Munich, scoring 3 goals. His contract is set to expire next summer, and Bayern had been preparing to renew it. However, recent news suggests that Sane’s prolonged slump over nearly a year, combined with his hefty salary, has made Bayern reconsider, making it difficult for Sane to secure a contract renewal.
