[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, a fan in Uganda was shot dead by security personnel while celebrating Arsenal’s victory over Manchester United. The incident occurred at a restaurant in Lukaya, about 100 kilometers from the Ugandan capital, Kampala, when security personnel opened fire on a large crowd of jubilant fans. Another fan was injured in the incident. Reports indicate that the manager of the establishment was angry about the noise made by the supporters and requested security personnel to intervene. However, the fans did not heed the warnings given to them by the security. Witnesses reported that the restaurant owner turned off the power to the restaurant, which provoked the fans, leading them to make even more noise. Security personnel then opened fire. The victim, named John Ssenyonga, was 30 years old and died on the spot. Another injured fan named Lawrence Mugeijera has been taken to the hospital for treatment. This is the second incident of fan death in Uganda in recent times; earlier in October, 22-year-old Benjamin Okello was killed after a dispute following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
