[Saba Sports News] New Orleans Pelicans star Brandon Ingram is expected to miss significant time after suffering an ankle injury during Saturday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Shams Charania reported that Ingram has been diagnosed with a significant low-left ankle sprain and is out indefinitely.
The injury occurred early in the second half when Ingram landed awkwardly on Thunder guard Lu Dort’s foot after a jump shot. He exited the game and did not return, finishing with 5 points in 19 minutes.
This setback adds to the Pelicans’ injury woes this season. Zion Williamson has played in only six games, and recent updates on his condition have been discouraging.
Now, New Orleans must navigate without Ingram, their leading scorer, who has been averaging 22.2 points per game.
With a league-worst 5-19 record, the Pelicans face an increasingly challenging season as they lose yet another key player.
