[Saba Sports News] The FIA released revisions to the technical regulations for 2025, focusing on two main aspects: mandatory installation of cockpit cooling systems and the maximum gap between the main wing and flaps when DRS is closed. Regarding the cooling system, if the official weather radar predicts temperatures around the track exceeding 30.5 degrees Celsius, the race director will declare a “heat danger” status. At that point, each car must have a cooling system installed, which will increase the minimum weight of the car by 5 kg to 803 kg; falling below this standard will be considered a violation. As for the regulations concerning the gap when DRS is closed, the governing body adjusted the minimum gap between the main wing and flaps from 10-15 mm to 9.4-13 mm, while the 85 mm upper limit when DRS is open remains unchanged. The FIA also specified that under DRS mode, the rear wing flaps can only have two positions: returning to the initial position when DRS is closed, with no allowance for a third position. In simple terms, they must either be fully closed or fully open. Some fans commented that the second revision by the FIA is clearly aimed at the McLaren F1 team, which developed a flexible rear wing last season that had a noticeable gap when DRS was not activated, drawing criticism from other teams.
