[Saba Sports News] In the Cooch Behar Trophy final, Karnataka’s Prakhar Chaturvedi made cricketing history by scoring a remarkable 404 runs at the KSCA Navule Stadium in Shivamogga from January 12 to 15. This innings broke the 24-year-old record of Yuvraj Singh, who had scored 358 runs. Yuvraj, renowned for his aggressive batting, praised Prakhar’s achievement on ‘X,’ recognizing its significance for the future of Indian cricket.
“Very happy to see this! Records are meant to be broken and I’m glad to see the future of Indian cricket in safe hands🏏🇮🇳,” he posted on ‘X.”
Yuvraj’s previous record was set in a final against Bihar, where his team, Punjab, scored 839 runs in response to Bihar’s 357, with Yuvraj himself facing 579 deliveries to score an unbeaten 358. This match was notable for MS Dhoni’s presence as the wicketkeeper for Bihar.
Prakhar’s exceptional performance played a pivotal role in Karnataka’s first-ever U19 Cooch Behar title win. Karnataka dominated the final against Mumbai, amassing a massive 890 for 8 in 223 overs and subsequently bowling out Mumbai for 380. Prakhar faced 638 deliveries and hit 46 boundaries and three sixes in his 404-run innings. Despite not being selected for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, this display has likely caught the attention of selectors for future considerations.
