[Saba Sports News] Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker let his frustration boil over during a tense moment with Memphis Grizzlies rookie Cam Spencer on Tuesday night.
Early in the fourth quarter at Footprint Center in Phoenix, with the Grizzlies leading 93-90, Booker tried to make a move against Memphis wing Jaylen Wells. Wells’ strong defense forced Booker to dribble the ball off his leg and into the backcourt for a violation.
Frustrated, Booker held onto the ball to protest the call. When Spencer attempted to take the ball from him, Booker shoved the rookie, escalating the situation before players and referees stepped in to diffuse it.
Both Booker and Spencer were assessed technical fouls for the altercation.
The Grizzlies went on to secure a 117-112 victory, capping off one of Booker’s toughest outings of the season.
The four-time All-Star managed just 16 points on 4-of-20 shooting, including a 1-of-7 performance in the fourth quarter with two turnovers. Phoenix, meanwhile, suffered its ninth loss in 12 games.
With the Suns struggling, trade speculation has ramped up. The team is reportedly exploring potential upgrades, including a two-time All-Star to replace starting center Jusuf Nurkić.
Nurkić missed Tuesday’s game after being suspended for his involvement in a separate altercation during last week’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.
