[Saba Sports News] The Miami Heat have taken decisive action following Jimmy Butler’s formal trade request, suspending the six-time All-Star for seven games due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”
The suspension comes amid escalating tensions between Butler and the franchise, with reports of frustration on both sides.
In a statement issued Friday, the Heat confirmed their willingness to entertain trade offers for Butler, despite team president Pat Riley’s declaration just a week prior that the forward would not be moved.
“Through his actions and statements, [Butler] has shown he no longer wants to be part of this team,” the Heat’s statement read. “Jimmy Butler and his representative have indicated that they wish to be traded; therefore, we will listen to offers.”
The suspension, costing Butler $346,543 per game and totaling approximately $2.35 million, marks a turning point in what appears to be an irreparable rift.
Butler, 35, has expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s direction in recent weeks. With the option to become an unrestricted free agent after the season, both sides seem poised to part ways.
