[Saba Sports News] According to “Scoop,” Malaysia’s badminton “king” Lee Zii Jia may miss the Asian Badminton Mixed Team Championships held in Qingdao, China, from February 11 to 16. This tournament also serves as a qualifier for the Sudirman Cup Mixed Team Championships, which will take place in Xiamen, China, from April 27 to May 4. In December last year, Lee sustained an ankle ligament injury during the BWF Year-End Finals, leading him to miss this year’s Malaysia Open, India Open, and this week’s Indonesia Masters. Although he hopes to return to the court next month, the Badminton Association of Malaysia has yet to announce the lineup for the Asian Mixed Team Championships, leaving it uncertain whether the world number 8 men’s singles player will be called up. Records show that Lee last represented Malaysia in a team event at the Thomas Cup in Chengdu, China, in April last year. Sources from the Badminton Association of Malaysia revealed that if Lee cannot compete, the Malaysian team will be formed by young players and veterans.
