[Saba Sports News] According to French media reports, the NBA is planning to promote the establishment of basketball teams for Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City. Reports indicate that the NBA is actively exploring the possibility of establishing an independent basketball league in Europe. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver needs the approval of all 30 team owners, but due to some unresolved issues and uncertainties, the owners are cautious about the plan. After an initial report, there are still many concerns within the board. Previous NBA ventures, such as the African Basketball League and the G League, have not been profitable, while the WNBA has only recently started showing significant profit after nearly 30 years. It is understood that Real Madrid is the NBA’s primary target in the European basketball league organization. Silver hinted that the decision on whether to move forward with the plan might be made after the board meeting in March. Additionally, Silver may encourage major football clubs like Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain to form basketball teams. If this plan comes to fruition, it would mark a further expansion of the NBA in the global market. It remains to be seen how fans will react to this.
