[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Clippers and Utah Jazz completed a trade on Saturday, and it immediately had fans reacting the same way.
The Clippers sent PJ Tucker, Mo Bamba, a future second-round pick, and cash to the Jazz in exchange for Drew Eubanks and Patty Mills. Eubanks, averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds in 37 games this season, provides frontcourt depth, while Mills has contributed 4.4 points per game in 17 appearances.
However, one name in the deal stood out—PJ Tucker. The 39-year-old veteran hasn’t played a single game this season and had been away from the Clippers, awaiting a new destination.
Once the trade was announced, fans all echoed the same thought, “Wait, PJ Tucker is still in the league?”
Not only is Tucker still in the NBA, but he’s also collecting a hefty paycheck. He’s in the final year of a three-year, $33 million contract. That said, he likely won’t suit up for the Jazz, as he’s expected to negotiate a buyout and explore signing with another team.
For the Clippers, the trade also provided financial relief, moving them below the luxury tax ahead of Thursday’s deadline. The team sits at 28-20, while the struggling Jazz are near the bottom of the league at 10-36.
