[Saba Sports News] Turns out, Drake still hasn’t moved on from his friendship fallout with DeMar DeRozan.
In a recent video shared by DJ Akademiks, Drake was performing Rich Flex at his Sydney show when a fan tossed a jersey onstage.
After holding it for a moment, he opened it up to reveal DeRozan’s name and number. The moment he realized it was his former friend’s jersey, Drake wasted no time tossing it offstage.
Fans immediately picked up on the not-so-subtle message, with many reacting online:
– “Taking shots at everyone but Kendrick,” one fan quipped, referencing Drake’s ongoing rap feud with Kendrick Lamar.
– “I be arguing for Drake, then he does [poop emoji] like this [shake head emoji],” a disappointed supporter wrote.
– “This dude is still emotional. You lost this one, just let it be. You were smiling when you demolished Meek Mill,” another fan added, comparing this beef to Drake’s 2015 feud with Meek.
– “Yet he was scared to look DeMar in the face when he was sitting courtside at that game last year,” another noted.
Drake and DeRozan’s friendship dates back over a decade to the latter’s days with the Toronto Raptors, Drake’s favorite team. However, things soured last year when DeRozan appeared at Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out Amazon special, dancing onstage to Not Like Us—a diss track aimed squarely at Drake. The situation escalated further when DeRozan later featured in the official Not Like Us music video.
While Drake seems to hold a grudge, DeRozan has downplayed any tension. In a July interview with FOX 40, he insisted there was no bad blood:
“We love Drake, we always can play him. Kendrick’s been a friend of mine—damn near family—for a long time. We grew up damn near in the same neighborhood… It’s always been there.”
In Not Like Us, Lamar even name-dropped DeRozan:
“I’m glad DeRoz’ came home, y’all didn’t deserve him neither.”
Drake, however, has been much more vocal about his feelings. During a Raptors broadcast last year, he made his stance crystal clear:
“If you ever put a DeRozan banner up, I’ll go up there and pull it down myself.”
For Drake, it seems loyalty is everything—and in his eyes, DeRozan picked a side.
