The INEOS sports director has become increasingly prominent at the Carrington training base after temporarily leaving his home in Monaco. Brailsford has been a key figure in the ongoing £50 million training ground redevelopment project, and his leadership will play a crucial role during another tumultuous period of cost-cutting and layoffs. Notably, the former chairman of British Olympic cycling is also known for his marginal gains approach, and the decision to hire world-renowned athletics coach Harry Marra as a temporary consultant is entirely credited to Brailsford. Understandably, Marra is currently training Manchester United’s coaches and staff at Carrington rather than working directly with the players, especially considering recent injuries to Diallo, Mainoo, and Ugarte during training. Marra’s involvement could prove to be beneficial.
