[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United may lose up to £20 million in league bonuses this season due to the team’s ranking decline, which club insiders have described as “unacceptable.” Currently, Manchester United ranks 15th in the Premier League, whereas they finished 8th last season. It is reported that many within the club consider this drop unacceptable because each position difference in the Premier League standings translates to a difference of £3 million in TV broadcast revenue. Therefore, Manchester United could lose up to £20 million in bonuses this season. Over the past three years, Manchester United has lost £300 million, and since Ineos took over, the club decided to significantly cut operating costs. Today, it has been confirmed that Manchester United will close its cafeteria and instead only provide free fruit to employees. Recently, Manchester United officially announced another 200 layoffs, expecting to save £36 million. It is worth noting that Manchester United is the club with the highest number of employees in the Premier League; on average, there were about 1,140 employees per month in the 2023/2024 season. Additionally, the number of employees at Manchester United has increased over the past eight years, with 799 employees in 2016.
